Story of Baba Harbhajan Singh Ghost Who Still Protects India’s Border

But Harbhajan Singh is one such soldier of the Indian Army who is still serving the nation, even after getting martyred in 1968. This is the strange story of Baba Harbhajan Singh Ghost who met with an accidental death and since then, serving the nation as a ghost. About Hero of Nathu-La Pass- Soldier Harbhajan Singh

Soldier Harbhajan Singh was an Indian Army soldier who was born in Punjab in 1941. He joined Indian Army in the year 1956 as Sepoy and was posted in 14 Rajput Regiment. While he was posted near the Nathu-La pass, he met with an unexpected accident that let him died. While leading a herd of mules that carry the ammunition, he slipped in the glacier and was stuck in the snow that leads to his unexpected death.

For three consecutive days, he was searched by the Indian Army team and his body was finally recovered from the snow. He was cremated with National Honors. His death at the early age of 22 made him a legend. The official statement of Indian Army states that he was martyred in the battle between Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at 14,500 feet Nathu-La pass. He was awarded Maha Vir Chakra for his martyrdom on 26 January 1969.

According to the legend, when he was drowned in the glacier, it was hard for the search team to find his body. But it is believed he helped his team to find his own dead body. Even after this, many of the company men claimed Harbhajan Singh to come in their dreams and talk to them about any upcoming attacks.

Later, in the dream of one of his colleague, he instructed to build a shrine in his memory. It is believed that during the India China war, the soldiers claimed to witness the presence of Baba Harbhajan Singh who instructed them, three days in advance of the actual war.

During the Flag meeting between Indian and China at the Nathu-La pass, even Chinese army pays their tribute to martyred Honorary Captain Harbhajan Singh. They even set a separate chair in his honor.

Some believed even say that one of the army official who skipped to maintain the clean and disciplined behavior was slapped by the ghost of Baba Harbhajan Singh. It is believed that Baba Harbhajan Singh shoes and dress gets clean magically.

In his memory, Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir was built in the Nathu-La pass that witnesses countless devotees who wish for their wellness during the whole trip. After he instructed his colleague to construct a “Samadhi” for him, his unit builds his Shrine. The temporary shrine was prior build 9 km away from where the current shrine stands.

Being too young at the time he was martyred, he was not married. The most interesting point is that Indian Army has accepted him as a regular Indian army soldier who is still serving the nation. For that, he is given regular promotion. Not even this, he is given leave on 14th September, every year.

His complete luggage and other belongings are taken to his home with honor and are returned back to his barrack. He has is separate berth booked in Dibrugarh Express whenever he is granted a leave.

With the series of promotion, he was promoted to the post of Honorary Captain and he was retired on 11th September.
