Lt Amogh Bapat Died in Landslide: Nine people, including Lt. Amogh Bapat, died in a landslide in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district. In this accident, two youths from the Korba and Janjgir-Champa districts of Chhattisgarh are also included. Amogh Bapat, who lived in Korba, was a Lieutenant Officer in the Indian Navy and posted in Andaman and Nicobar.
Lt Amogh Bapat joined Indian Navy four years back. He was on 15 days’ leave. He and his friend left for Shimla last Sunday after meeting his parents. His father, Prashant Bapat, is posted as Superintending Engineer in the Hasdeo Thermal Power Station Project of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board.
About Lieutenant Amogh Bapat
Amogha was the eldest of two brothers. He passed the Higher Secondary examination from DPS School, Korba. Four years ago, he joined Indian Navy through National Defence Academy. He was an aviation engineer in the Indian Navy, currently posted in Andaman and Nicobar.
The Kannur police confirmed his death on Sunday evening. Lt Amogh’s father works as a Superintendent Engineer in the Korba West plant of Chhattisgarh Power Generation Company. His younger brother, Anoop Bapat, is a software engineer.

On 18 July, Amogh left to visit his maternal grandmother’s house in Indore. From Indore, he went to visit Himachal Pradesh. He was accompanied by his friend Satish Katakwar (34), a resident of Janjgir-Champa district. ML Katakwar, the father of the deceased Satish, is a former employee of the power company in Korba. After retiring four years ago, he has gone to his home in the Janjgir-Champa district.
On getting information about the incident, a crowd of well-wishers gathered at Prashant Bapat’s residence in Korba West Colony of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Company.
Indian Navy has lost a young and brave officer.
