On July 26, 2025, a Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, posted at the High Altitude Warfare School in Gulmarg, allegedly assaulted four SpiceJet employees at Srinagar Airport following a dispute over excess cabin baggage on flight SG-386 to Delhi.
The Dispute
The officer attempted to board with 16 kg of cabin baggage, exceeding the allowed 7 kg. Upon being asked to pay, he refused, reportedly bypassed security, and entered the aerobridge forcefully before being stopped by CISF personnel.

SpiceJet alleges the officer physically attacked four employees using punches, kicks, and a queue stand. One staff member collapsed, another suffered jaw trauma and nosebleeds, and two others sustained serious injuries, including spinal fractures.
Staff Testimony
Mudasir Ahmad Khan, one of the victims, said, “I was hit with a bag, slapped, kicked, and I fell unconscious. I was only doing my duty.” He remains bedridden with spinal damage.
Legal Action
An FIR has been filed by SpiceJet under multiple IPC sections. The Army officer has filed a counter-FIR claiming mistreatment. SpiceJet is seeking his addition to the no-fly list and has submitted CCTV footage to authorities.
