Meet Aanchal Gangwal – Daughter of Tea Seller Selected For IAF Flying Branch

Motivation and Inspiration are what makes you take a huge leap aside from the crowd and make your own identity. Aanchal Gangwal, a 24-year-old girl from Madhya Pradesh did the same and builds a story among all those who blame their poor background behind their unsuccessful life. Aanchal, a daughter of tea seller (Namdev tea stall) hails from Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh and belongs to a poor family.

About Aanchal Gangwal:

The biggest problem faced by Aanchal is the weak financial background of her family that let her see hard times in her life. But against that, she never let her financial crises come in front of her aim. Aanchal completed her schooling from Metro H.S School in Neemuch. During her school days, she topped her class and was honored as the School Captain.

Later she moved to Vikram University for her graduation. There she gets involved in Basketball and Athletics (400m sprint). After completing her graduation, she looked for a job to support her family and finally selected for Police Sub-Inspector. She even joined the police training.

But she explained the Police training to be hard and makes it tough for her to prepare for her actual dream. So, she moved to Labor Inspector job that offered her enough time to prepare for her dream job.

She cleared the AFCAT 2 2017 Exam and prepared vigorously to clear the AFCAT SSB Interview. Aanchal Gangwal failed in her initial 5 attempts but was finally earned the flying wings in her 6th attempt. This time, she stood 1st in the Flying merit list (Course No: 204/18F/SSC).

Out of 6 lakh students who appeared for AFCAT Written Exam, Aanchal Gangwal is among 22 girls who cleared the exam. She is among the 5 girls who cleared the SSB Interview and is the only candidate from Madhya Pradesh who is finally selected to join Indian Air Force.

What Inspired Aanchal to Join Indian Air Force?

Aanchal talked with Hindustan Times about her inspiration to join Indian Air Force. She said that during the Uttrakhand Floods in 2013, she keenly observed the vital role of Indian Armed Forces and that’s what made her decision to join the Defence Forces and serve the country. But as the family was financially weak at that time, she decided to wait until the right time.

About AFCAT 2 2017 Merit list:

Indian Air Force recently released the AFCAT Merit List for July 2018 Course. Total 148 candidates are shortlisted to join Indian Air Force Academy, Dundigal for training. The training will commence from 2nd of July 2018. All the selected candidates who have been finally selected to join Air Force Academy will receive a hard copy of Call letter through Speed Post or via E-Mail to the address/ E-mail ID available on record.

Candidates are required to report at Reception Cell located on Platform No.1 0 of Secunderabad Railway Station by 1800h dates of reporting specified in their Call Letters. Late Reporting by candidates will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
