Commodore Arvind Rawal on Saturday (8th of May 2021) took command of the Indian Navy’s Marine Engineering Coaching Institute INS Shivaji at Lonovala close to Pune.
He succeeded Commodore Rovinesh Seth, who is promoted to the Directorate of Marine Engineering on the Naval Headquarters, New Delhi.
He holds a BSc and BTech degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University. He is also a distinguished alumnus of the Institute of Armament Technology (IAT), Pune and the prestigious Naval War College, Goa.
Commodore Rawal is an alumnus of National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadkaswala and was commissioned in the Indian Navy in July 1992. Commodore took the Basic Engineering Course (BEC) and the Marine Engineering Specialization Course at INS Shivaji, where he excelled in both the courses.
Before this, he was Additional Principal Director at Directorate of Marine Engineering, Naval Headquarters. His tours of duty encompass several important assignments, prestigious courses and challenging tenures at sea, ashore and overseas.
