On 23rd December 2017, one of Major Prafulla Ambadas Moharkar was martyred along with three other soldiers, when Pakistani troops violated the cease line and begin an open fire on the Indian Army patrol. This shameful act of Pakistan troops was done at the LOC (Line Of Control) in Keri sector of J&K’s Rajouri district. Major Prafulla Moharkar made his supreme sacrifice while protecting his country from the infiltration.

Major Prafulla Moharkar was Fascinated By Army Life Since Childhood

Major Ambadas Moharkar was a resident of Junona village of Bhandara district in Maharashtra. Since childhood, he was fond of army life and was passionate to join the Defence Forces.

Major Moharkar was Having No Defence Background

His nuclear was not having any Army background as his father was a retired School teacher in Gandhi School, Walani. While his mother is still working as a teacher in Bhivapur School.

Major Prafulla Left Engineering to Join Indian Amry

Major Moharkar did his primary schooling in Manora village while completed his higher education form Vainangaga School, Paoni and Somalwar High School, Nagpur. After completing his academic education, he got admission in an Engineering college in Nagpur. Bur being passionate to join the Defence Forces, he was shortlisted for 10+2 TES Entry.

Major Prafulla Ambadas Joined Army in 2012

After getting selected for 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme, he left his Engineering and joined the prestigious Indian Army. He was commissioned as Lieutenant in 2012 and was later promoted to the rank of Major.

Major Martyred just 2 Days Before his Marriage Anniversary

Prafulla Moharkar was married to Aboli Moharkar on 25th December, 3 years back. Mrs. Aboli was all set to prepare their marriage anniversary and was almost done with all the preparations. His parents were also left for Pune to be a part of their celebration, but after they go the shocking news, they returned melancholy.

Strong Words by Major Prafulla’s Mother

Even being grieved by the loss of her son, mother of Major Prafulla Moharkar said that “Though my son has been martyred, I am proud of his supreme sacrifice. He was a brilliant student since childhood and was very eager to serve the country. He used to say that he would love to die for the country, I still remember his words”.

This clearly depicts that our mothers are as brave as their Son’s are.

A Similar Story of Colonel Santosh Mahadik

Similar to the bravery shown by the Major Prafulla Moharkar, Colonel Santosh Mahadik also showed his bravery while facing an unexpected firing from three terrorists. Col Santosh Mahadik was on leading a search party when he with his team was attacked by the terrorists. But he showed his bravery and even after being severely injured, he dealt with the terrorists.
