Who is Indian Army Officer Jyoti Nainwal?

Soon after Jyoti Nainwal passed out from Officers Training Academy, Chennai, she become an inspiration for many other who wants to join Indian defence force.

Who Is Jyoti Nainwal?

Lieutenant Jyoti Nainwal is the wife of Naik Deepak Nainwal, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists in Kulgam in 2018.

Jyoti was a homemaker when Naik Deepak sacrified his life for the motherland. However, her static life take a U-turn when her mother adviced to think about her two kids.

After martyrdom of Deepak, Jyoti had no idea about the Indian Army selection process. However, seeing her eagerness to serve the country and take care of her family, Brigadier Cheema and Col MP Singh from Deepak’s parent company 1 Mahar Regiment stepped up as her mentors.

I would like to thank my husband’s Mahar Regiment. They stood with us through thick and thin and whatever I am today is because of the regiment,” Jyoti told Times of India.

Soon after Deepak’s death, she started preparing for the Service Selection Board test for entry into the armed forces officer cadre. She cleared the SSB in her 4th attempt and successfully completed 11 months of training in Chennai. She has been commissioned as a Lieutenant.

About Martyr Naik Deepak Nainwal

On 11 April 2018, Naik Deepak Nainwal lost his life in a terrorist encounter in Jammu & Kashmir. He was survived by wife Jyoti and two kids, nine-year-old Lavanya and seven-year-old Reyansh.
