What is Manohar Parrikar Education?

The overall educational background of Sh. Manohar Parrikar clearly showed his distinguished character. His early schooling was completed in Loyola High School, Goa.  After having completed his secondary education in Marathi, he got admission in IIT Bombay in 1978, where he opted metallurgy stream and was also awarded distinguished alumnus award by the college in 2001.

Political Career of Manohar Parrikar

After joining RSS, he became chief instructor in his final years of his schooling. Thereafter he joined IIT Bombay and after getting graduated, he resumed work in RSS, along with working over his business simultaneously. He was actively involved in the political arena in North Goa and soon became the local director. He was also named as the key organizer of Ramjanmbhoomi movement.

His main political career began in 1994, when he joined Goa legislative assembly. He became the Leader of Opposition for a few months and got elected as CM of Goa in 2000 till 2002. He again got elected as CM of Goa and served till 2005. In 2007, he was defeated in Goa state elections.

He made a comeback in 2014 general election, after which, he was made Defense Minister replacing Arun jaitly, where he remarkably took strong moves in the defense field. He again sworn in as CM of Goa in 2017 and stayed there for the rest of his career.

About Manohar Parrikar Illness [Death Cause]

He has been suffering from pancreatic ailment from the past few years. For getting treated, he visited the US and came back to India to continue his treatment at AIIMS, where he was confirmed about his suffering from pancreatic cancer. While going through the treatment, he continued his duty and carried on his functioned as CM of Goa. He died on the 17th March 2019 at an age of 63 at his residence in Panaji, Goa.

The Contribution of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar

His tenure as Defense Minister of India was full of ups and downs, where several interesting happenings shook the nation and some claims entangled the working process. The first and the foremost was the Surgical Strike 2016 conducted in response to the militant attack which took place in Uri. Mr Parikar was also appraised for handling One Rank One Pension issue very gently and smartly. Weapons worth 1.5 lakh crore have been approved by Defense Acquisition Council. Weapons worth 90,000 crores were signed for acquisition, without any allegations of scam. These all are rooted in the tenure of Mr. Parikar.

Some issues that surrounded him where Rafale deal, which put him in jeopardy for a while. Another was the defense budget of 2017-18 which was lowest defense budget since the Indo-china war, taken with a pinch of salt.
