To be a student of NCC and living in the NCC camps is a dream of many students as it has the best experience for future army officers in India. NCC stands for National Cadet Corps and is a national organization that helps to instill cadets with all the things it takes to be an army officer like confidence, altitude, courage, faith in oneself, self-reliance, selfless service and many more. All the things taught at NCC prepare the youth for their duty as army officers. 

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) foundation was laid in 1948 under the NCC Act. It was a breakthrough for the student community and their overall development procedure. NCC, with the motto of “Unity And Discipline“, has become an integral instrument to mold students’ character positively and inherit vital traits during their school or college education period.

7 NCC Camps Every Cadet Must Know About

1. National Integration Camp (NIC) or Special National Integration Camps (SNIC) 

The NIC or SNIC camps of NCC are established to teach students the rich heritage and culture, which act as a connecting link of unity irrespective of our country’s diverse tradition, language, and religion. The main objective of these camps is to overcome all the cultural gaps among students from different states. 

A total of 37 National Integration Camps held annually for students across the country. Further, additional 6 special NICs are organized for the extremist places of India like Leh/Srinagar (J&K), Peddapuram (Kakinada), and Dimapur (North Eastern Region), Bada Bagh (Jaisalmer), Lakshadweep and Port Blair. 

2. Thal Sainik Camp (TSC)

2 TSCs are conducted yearly at Headquarters DGCC Camp, Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt during Sept/Oct. One is for the JD/SD boys, and the other is for the JW/SW girls. With a number of 680 for boys and 680 for girls, the camp successfully maintains its significance among others. 

3. Leadership Camps 

As the name says, Advance Leadership Camps (ALC) consists of a motive to provide lessons on personality development, leadership skills and much more. Every year, more than 1300 cadets attend ALCs before their induction into the Armed Forces in India. 

4. Nau Sainik Camp (NSC)

The Nau Sainik Camps are only for the cadets of the Naval Wing. The activities of NSCs involve sailing competitions and boat pulling regattas. Moreover, more than 560 cadets come to the Nau Sainik Camps yearly. 

5. Vayu Sainik Camps (VSC) 

Specially organized for the cadets of the Air Wing, all the Directorate’s candidates attend VSCs. These camps happens in the month of October only. Moreover, the Inter Directorate competitions related to air wing training are also conducted during these camps. 

6. Rock Climbing Training Camps

As the name suggests, the Rock Climbing Training Camps allows candidates learn about the sport rock climbing and its basics. These camps aim to inherit the spirit of adventure among students. The overall strength for these camps is 1080. 

7. Annual Republic Day Camp 

The Annual Republic Day Camp is one of the most envied camps among the other NCC camps. The camp is held at Garrison Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt, from 01 Jan to 29 Jan every year. The Vice President of India inaugurated this camp on 01 Jan. 

Around 2070 NCC candidates from all over the States and Union Territories participate annually in this camp. And as students from every state attend ARDC, it is also popular by the name- Mini India. And getting selected for this camp is a matter of pride for every cadet. 

In the end, the overall objective of NCC Camps is to bring out an ideal and responsible citizens from a civilian and to imbibe a sense of patriotism in them.
